Comanche set to return for Sydney to Hobart

The 100ft super maxi dubbed 'the Aircraft Carrier' is set to return to Australia for the iconic Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on the 26th December. The promise of the 'fastest Wild Oats ever' was what lured the professional crew back to Australia. That, and the fact that Comanche was designed with the Sydney to Hobart in mind! Skipper Ken Read did a little juggling of his schedule, roused the crew and slipped their entry in the mailbox of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia earlier this month, effectively laying down the gauntlet. Wild Oats XI (which might be called Wild Oats XI and a half), won last years race to Hobart on Comanches maiden race, and this year, the boat has undergone an extreme makeover; which is still not finished in an attempt to sail even faster in 2015. With a seasons worth of experience behind the crew of Comanche, including a world record for the furthest sailed in 24 hours by a monohull, and the Rolex Fastnet Race win, they're in fine form and sure to blast out of Sydney Harbour with everything they've got. Will they finally beat the Sydney to Hobart race record in 2015? We'll find out on the 26th December, at 1pm when the gun will fire on Sydney Harbour. Check out the interview below with Skipper Ken Read and Nic Douglass.
