101m SuperYacht crosses highway in Netherlands.

10 lane highway? This boat is longer... and on top!

It’s not every day a 101.5m long super yacht floats across a highway, but this week Project 808 from super yacht manufacturers ‘Feadship’ did just that, as it began a journey to its new owners in Rotterdam harbor.

Sleeping up to 20 guests, the yacht who’s name is yet to be revealed also features two cinemas, 3 tenders, jetski’s, windsurfers, Seabobs (underwater scooters) and waterslides to name a few. Project 808 uses four engines to propel her to a top speed of 22 knots (that's fast for a 100m yacht!) and has a range of more than 5000 miles. It's only 4000nm to Hawaii from Brisbane, but at 22knots this thing could be there in a little over a week! Who knows how much fuel it burns per hour though, that's for the owners to weep over! (actually, the owners probably don't care with a construction cost of over $200 million AUD)

Feadship's largest construction to date, (meaning it’s also Holland’s largest yacht) spanning 13.8m at its widest point - Project 808 required specialized fenders to fit through the aquaduct in the Netherlands. They were widened back in 2013 to 14m, leaving just 10cm (or 0.7% of the total channel width) either side of the boat for error. That gap was filled with pieces of plywood covered in marine carpet, because traditional foam fenders were simply too thick to fit!

You can imagine motorists surprise when this beast crossed the highway above them!
