Last year it raised a whopping $130,000 for Prostate Cancer, and it’s back once again to live up to it’s title of the biggest fishing event in Australia. The Pirtek Fishing Challenge! Entries are now open, and for just $20, you too can join the effort this year.

Registration is now open for the 2015 Pirtek Fishing Challenge; Australia’s Biggest Fishing Event. Anglers last year smashed the record with 8500 entrants fishing together in bays, creeks, oceans and estuaries all over Australia. This year it’s hoped that 10,000 anglers will be competing, which should raise over $200,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

So how does it work? Entry is $20, (plus some postage costs for your shirt) which goes straight to charity. Sponsors donate thousands worth of prizes, $169,000 worth this year! Then on one day (the 22nd of March), you fish.

You fish, and you fish, then when you catch something – all you’ve got to do is record it, release it and on the process goes. All over the country people are doing the same thing and that night, the results are tallied and winners are crowned. Do you have what it takes to beat 10,000 of your fellow anglers?
