It's Gone Fishing NSW Day!

Today is the first ever NSW DPI Gone Fishing Day, and it's going to mark the first in a long running event, enjoyed by recreational anglers all over the state.

Aimed at introducing people to the pastime, or encouraging those who have left it for a while, Gone Fishing Day is one day where events are being held all over the state, and fishing licenses aren't required. There's workshops, competitions, free goodie bags and good times being held everywhere today!

Gone Fishing Day is being run using funds from the Recreational Fishing Trusts, and not only going to official DPI events - they're handing out some dollars to local fishing clubs in regional towns around NSW, some that you'd never even know had a fishing club. Take Nyngan for example, smack-bang in the middle of NSW. They're out today wetting a line and having a ball!

If you missed out on this years fun, don't worry - every day is a good day to go fishing! Just keep the date for next year, because it's going to be a big deal…
